About

The photo in the site’s header was taken in July 2009 and shows the Keystone I pipeline being constructed near a home just outside Yankton, South Dakota.

The Great Plains Tar Sands Pipelines blog is maintained by Plains Justice, a public interest law center that represented Dakota Rural Action in the Keystone XL pipeline proceedings at the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, produced two reports on pipeline safety and emergency response planning in 2010 in response to citizen concerns about the Keystone pipeline system, and continues to provide information and occasional research and legal work on Keystone pipeline system issues.
