Environmental Report for Keystone XL Pipeline Finally Published

April 9, 2010

A view of the Nebraska sand hills. The pipeline's route would cross many miles of sand hills terrain.

The much-delayed draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Keystone XL pipeline is now available. A 45-day public comment period will begin on April 16.

The U.S. State Department has published the document on its website, as well as a public hearing schedule. The site is confusing to use, so you may have to click around a bit to find what you want. Once you’re there, click on “Project Documents” on the left, and then click on “Keystone XL Project Environmental Report.”

To see the the hearing schedule, click on “How to Get Involved” on the left side of the State Department site. We can’t post direct links here because of the way the federal government has set up its site.

Please note, this is a draft report, not the final version. More information about how to comment should be available on April 16, through the official Notice of Availability that will be published in the Federal Register.
