Pipeline Project Cost Stay the Same Through 2011
March 22, 2011, the Billings Gazette reported that the Keystone XL pipeline project costs will not increase as long as the project is approved by the US State Department before the end of the year. Last week a supplementary EIS report was commissioned by the State Department to assess additional environmental impacts of the project. Many environmental groups and land owners along the pipelines path saw this as a victory in the battle of the necessity over the pipeline. If the project’s approval is pushed out past the end of 2011, TransCanda could see and increase in the projects already $7 billion price tag.
