Governor to Host Economic Summit on the Future of the Ogallala Aquifer
Topeka – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback will host an economic summit on the Future of the Ogallala Aquifer, one of a series of summits focused on growing the Kansas economy and creating jobs.  The Future of the Ogallala Aquifer Summit will be held July 21, 2011 at Colby Community College, Colby, KS.

Governor Brownback’s objective for this summit will be to produce ideas to design an action plan for the Ogallala Aquifer. The Kansas Water Authority has been charged with developing these plans.  The Kansas Water Authority, along with key stake-holders, will consider policy, legislation and incentives that will conserve and extend the life of the Ogallala Aquifer while maintaining and enhancing the economy of western Kansas. Ideas generated from this summit will be used for this effort.

This summit will bring together a variety of stakeholders from across Kansas to consider the future of this valuable resource. Registration is encouraged and will be open until July 15, 2011. For more information and registration visit: www.kwo.org  or call the Kansas Water Office at 785-296-3185.
